WHO IS Alicia B.?
ABOUT ME
THE SHORT VERSION...
I am a Black, female psychotherapist who specializes in Black mental health. I continue to break down the stigmas of mental health in the Black and Brown communities through the populations that I serve. I started my practice in 2020 and was very successful in a short period of time. I had taken what I have learned in the field and built a six-figure private practice.
BUT MORE THAN THAT...
I am a mom, the youngest of six siblings, and the only therapist in my family. I am so passionate about mental health. I take pride in not only sharing the knowledge that I have to help others but also building other therapists to become competent in mental health, through clinical supervision and private practice coaching.
HERE'S MY WHOLE JOURNEY
"
My journey to becoming a psychotherapist came very naturally given my extensive history within the mental health field."
I grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where mental health plagued the streets, but was mostly ignored.
Being the youngest of six siblings, has had a huge impact on my curiosity about how identities are shaped and how we navigate different spaces, perspective and personalities

This curiosity led me to my path of mental health. I received my BA in Psychology from the University of Bridgeport and an MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.
"
I began working with a diverse population of adolescents, adults, and families, with a variety of stressors, to help them transform their lives and relationships through individual, group, and family therapy."
I have worked in schools, mental health treatment centers, trauma centers, and hospital settings, with medically and psychologically complex patients with chronic illnesses.

I utilize culturally informed integrated treatment models in all services provided. I have extensive training in many modalities and therapeutic approaches.
As a therapist, I am collaborative, exploratory, and realistic, which also means that I will challenge you to expand your perspective about yourself, emotions, thoughts, behaviors, relationships, family dynamics, etc.
